BabbaBox {learning out of the box}

If you’ve never heard of BabbaBox, I’d love to introduce you!  BabbaBox is a monthly subscription box that comes to your house filled with ALL the materials needed for the included theme based activities.

Let’s unpack the box!

This month’s theme was Sun, Moon, & Stars.

The first item I pulled out of the box was this star wine bottle stopper!  A theme related gift for parents.  Who doesn’t love a little present!?

Next up, the theme card explaining the activities included in the BabbaBox.  Each month, the box contains elements to focus on four categories.  Create, explore, story tell, and connect.  You will find 2 to 3 hands-on projects (and all the materials needed to complete them….including things like glue!), an exploration activity, a story book, and a prepaid download for theme based interactive learning.

Our box included materials to make a paper-mache “moon” nightlight and constellation print using Sunprint Paper, binoculars for moon and star watching, the book “Twinkle, Star of the Week!”, and two digital activities.

Each project is completely explained with full color and picture instructions. Every material you need comes in the box. Both of the create projects came in their own clear zip top packet to keep all of the project pieces together.  Here’s a peek at the constellation print craft.  This project even came with additional web links and coloring pages to help facilitate discussion on constellation mythology!

My daughter enjoyed peeling and placing star stickers on to the “sunprint” paper to create her constellation.  We took it outside to sit in the sun for a few minutes and then back inside to peel off the stickers to reveal the prints underneath.  She loved that to peel off the stickers we needed to place the paper in a shallow pan of water!

Now she can’t wait to get her hands dirty to make the paper-mache nightlight!
