Jenny Lind High Chair

December 9, 2011 ·

After seeing one of these in a magazine and obsessively searching for a place I could get one online, I decided it just was not going to happen.  They just don’t exist for purchase anymore and I did not figure that I would ever find one.  Here’s where occasionally stalking Craigslist can really pay off.  I was clicking into post after post when I found one with several pictures jammed full of items and, there she was, sitting in the side of one picture, this gem.  My eyes almost popped out of my head when I read the price tag…$12….
ahhh…is was just to good to be true.  I hurriedly phoned.  Yes, it was still available but it was suggested I come soon so I didn’t miss out.  After a few more phone calls and some last minute scrambling I was on my way to pick it up.  One of the handles is a little loose and the tray and hardware had been removed but I still love it.  Plus, if I ever want to replace the tray I found this site who sells wood high chair replacement parts.  For now though my 2-year-old daughter prefers her “special” chair pulled right up to the table.

Good luck Kiley! They do seem hard to come by. I saw one at yard sale last weekend but it seemed like a replica version and not an actual older version. Check out Ebay, Etsy, and Craigslist!

I found your site while searching for a replacement tray for our wooden high chair. A friend gave me ours, it had been her hubby's grandmother's (they were moving and couldn't have it take up precious space). Anyways, mine has round arms where the tray would attach. I don't really want to screw anything in it (doesn't have holes or any evidence of holes repaired). I saw a replica wood high chair at Target, and it didn't have any hardware on the arms, it looked like the runners just clamped on the arms of the chair. This seems ideal (the website you linked sells the kits to have metal runners screwed on to the arms). Any suggestions? I love our chair so much, and very lucky to have been given such a treasure!

after doing an extensive search this was the only site I found with replacement parts. my parents had a different wooden highchair and I believe there's is the same way. the clips go on the bottom of the tray and the track needs to be on the arms of the chair so that the tray can be closer or further in to the back depending on the size of the child and so that it locks into place. I don't see how the tray would lock without a track. let me know if you find anything else and I can update my post to include it! thanks for stopping by.

Hi there – I know this post is a bit old but I was wondering if you ever came up with a solution? I am facing the exact same problem! Delighted to have found a jenny lind high chair on craigslist this weekend but now trying to solve the problem of getting a tray attached. So far my only thought is to get a pair of bentwood arms but I would prefer to find a more creative solution that doesn't involve adding arms… Thanks!

    Hi Jesslyn,
We decided to forego the tray and just pull the chair up under the table. The link in the post goes to a site that sells replacement trays and hardware though so if you want the tray check them out!

Hi Jessica, I was just at a yard sale and found to Jenny Lind children’s chairs. They look just like the high chair but these would look adorable with a little table,On the bottom it’s stamped “Made in Romania” I can’t seem to find anything on these chairs. I was told they were found in a woman’s attic. How would I find the value and if they are vintage or reproductions?

      Hi Linda,
I would suggest calling an appraiser local to you. I don’t have any formal knowledge on antiques and valuation. Sorry I can’t help. I hope you find the information you’re looking for. πŸ™‚

Jenny Lind high chairs are the best! I’ve managed to snag 2. One on Craigslist (without tray) which I ended up painting and gifting to my sister to pull up to their table and one from Goodwill with a tray!!! We have it unpainted in our kitchen.
