Fall Mantel 2012 {Brown, Green, Cream, and Silver}

October 5, 2012 ·

When I think of fall decorating I see an array of natural colors in my mind.  Predominately, red, orange, yellow, and brown.  One of the reasons I wasn’t into fall decorating (before becoming a part of the blogging world) is that I don’t usually care for these darker/deeper tones in my own decorating.  Reading blogs has opened my eyes to a whole world of lighter fall color palette.  I was actually happy to come home with some of the items I took to sell at the fall market last weekend.  I grabbed the transferware teapot, silver framed mirror, wood plate, rattan clock, a few accessories from around my house, and some cream/green colored pumpkins and set to work.

Now my mantel is set for fall!  A mix of deep brown, cream, pale green, and silver.  I love the light feel the mantel has while still capturing the feeling of fall.

We picked up three of the little cream pumpkins last weekend and went back yesterday to get a few more.  When we found some white ones with a hint of green I had to pick them up to go with my dried hydrangeas!

The farm even had gray pumpkins!  A perfect lovely dusty gray.  Unfortunately they were larger pumpkins that wouldn’t work for the mantel, but oh how I wished they would.  I didn’t even know gray pumpkins existed!

How about you?  Do you like lighter or darker tones for your fall decor?

And, please tell me I’m not the only one that didn’t know about gray pumpkins!!

    So pretty! Until recently, I didn't know pumpkins came in any color other than orange, or pure white. I am lovin' that touch of green. And until I read your post, I had no idea there was such a thing as a gray pumpkin!!! I need to get out more~!
    I don't do much decorating for fall, but if I did, I would want it to look like your mantel.

    You did a fabulous job on your mantel! I'm with you – I much prefer the muted natural tones of fall to the reds and oranges.

    I like lighter, natural tones. I love that creamy pumpkin mottled with green. I got some of those gray pumpkins too. I didn't even know about gray pumpkins until this year. Anywho … your mantel is lovely!!

    We really don't decorate for fall here in Australia…at least not in my neck of the woods! and didn't know anyone else in the world did until i discovered that fact in blogland ๐Ÿ™‚
    I definitely like the lighter tones, I'm not really a warm tone person so the grey pupmkins are more up my alley!
    So nice to meet you Jessica!!
