Mom’s Fall Home Tour

October 15, 2012 ·

As promised, I took some pictures of the olive buffet in it’s new home at my parent’s house.  I also took a few minutes to snap some shots of my mom’s fall decorating.  She creates lovely vignettes and I thought you all might like a peek!  My parent’s built their home when we (my siblings and I) were little.  My dad worked nights and built during the day.  My mom watched the four of us (who are all within 3 years of each other…I’m a twin!).  Their house is such a beautiful and special place.  Quite worthy of being in the pages of Country Living Magazine.  Just throwing that out there!  My mom would probably kill me 😉 but she and my dad have worked hard to create a beautiful home and I would love to see their home featured on those glossy pages!  Plus, the story behind it all is pretty inspiring.  If you want to see more you can click the link to see their 2012 spring home tour.

So without further ado.

Gorgeous, right?!  The exterior is just as beautiful.  My mom is an avid gardener as evidenced in some of the outdoor pictures of their spring home tour.  Right now my dad is residing the dormers (I believe their house would be classified as a cape cod but it has an asymmetrical roof like a saltbox).  One of these days I’ll have to show you the full exterior!

Impeccable styling in that room! I wish you would have taken more of the buffet… I love it! This whole room is authentically antique yet stylish at the same time. And your pictures did everything justice… perfect lighting, it looks like it could be in a magazine!

Thanks Rachel. There are more pictures of the buffet in the post I wrote on how we refinished it. I'm still working on figuring out my camera and taking decent photos and was having trouble with the lighting from the windows so I didn't get many of the buffet in this shoot that weren't overexposed.

    Hi Emmeline,

The buffet is beautiful at your mom and dad's home. I couldn't help but notice the wide plank floors. Hardwood floors is my family's business. They are very nice.

Your parent's house is lovely. The fireplace reminds me of my parents living room and fireplace. They too built their own home when my sister and I were little. My sister now owns the house, and rents it out. I haven't been there in years so your tour brought back some good memories.

My dad did the floors! They wanted an authentic look so they went with multi sized wide planks and rough cut nails!

I love your parents home. So cozy and warm. Love the buffet. I like the color of it and then the color of the table and chairs. I wondered how it would be mixing colors up a little.
