Hang a shining star upon the highest bough!

December 18, 2012 ·

and…..mantel hooks work pretty good for hanging swags on the top of picture frames.

I used 2 slimline stocking hangers to hang the swag over the frame.  Simply slip the flat part of the hanger over the back of your frame and use the loops to attach your swag!

This $1.00 yard sale frame got a coat of linen colored paint and my husband attached a piece of backer board painted in chalkboard paint.  I used a tutorial on how to fake calligraphy from Jones Design Company and wrote some lyrics from one of my favorite Christmas songs.

To bring the lyrics to life I suspended a star ornament from a sparkly silver pipe cleaner and then hot glued coordinating star stickers all over the swag of greenery.

The only thing that was left to do was to add Jesus below the most special of Christmas stars.

And, imagine the angels singing out in the fields nearby.

Luke 2
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

May we remember the true meaning of Christmas and why we place a star up on the highest bough!
