Easy as Pie Makeover

July 3, 2013 ·

Slowly, slowly we are making changes in our house to get it how we want it.  We’ve been tackling projects bit by bit and room by room.  So while there are updates being made everywhere there isn’t one space that’s actually complete.  Yet!

One simple update we made recently in the living room was replacing our rather ratty looking wood end table with a made over yard sale find.

Here’s the end table we had (which received it’s own makeover which I hope to share soon).

With the addition of the antique sofa we refinished it was looking a bit out of place and shabby in all the wrong ways.

We also took out the matching coffee table and replaced it with our new trunk table.  It might be moving out to another room in the house to make room for a longer coffee table but for now it stays.

When I found this tiered pie crust table (see middle below) at a yard sale I knew exactly where it was going.

It was part of our first yard sale haul this season and I thought the $25 price tag wasn’t too bad.  It had quite a few dings but nothing some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint couldn’t fix.

I painted the table with two coats of Paris Gray distressed it with a sanding block and sealed with one coat of clear wax.

Here it is now!

Any suggestions for how to style this cute little table would be appreciated!  It looks bare with nothing on it but I haven’t figured out what might help to settle it in.  Books?  Plant?  Clock?  What do you think?

P.S. I still plan on sharing a full series of tutorials on how we refinished and reupholstered the antique sofa.  I just need to find time to sit down and edit a gazoodle of pictures and break it up into manageable reads.

The table is perfect for that room. I want your sofa too. what about a small lamp on the top tier and a small tray or box on the bottom? Books sound good too. I know you'll come up with something perfect. If you're like me all you have to do is shop your house.

Some books and a silver or nickel vintage clock would look great on the table, I think. Or maybe a a few special white milk glass pieces? BTW…how did you do that? I've been on the hunt for an old trunk for a while now with no luck. I want to put the boys' dress up clothes in it and keep it in the back room I'm redoing. But, this is such a neat look for one! I love the legs!
