Flights of Fancy: A Quilted Veneer Dresser

July 31, 2013 ·

Hello lovely readers!  I’m back today with another project where the full tutorial will be available over at The DIY Club.  Due to the schedule of our summer events and responsibilities I have a pile up of DIY Club projects to share.  I hope you don’t mind.  There will be one more tomorrow!
As soon as I saw this gorgeous Ambrosia Maple Veneer Hobby Pack over at Rockler I knew I had to find a project to use some on.

I’ve never used veneer before and I knew I probably would not be using it as intended but I loved those minty green stripes so much!

This dresser started out a bit of a train wreck.  We had to wanted to change out the U-G-L-Y hardware so I took the opportunity and replaced the hardware with some wide-set wood knobs.

I love the wood knobs with the whimsical quilted pattern.  Can you find the butterflies and owls/birds?

If you want to know exactly how the pattern was created and how I prepared and attached the veneer then you’ll have to head over to The DIY Club!
