Boys Camp Room Progress: One Room Challenge, Week 2

October 9, 2014 ·

Today officially marks week two of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling it Home.

In six weeks I hope to finish off the boys’ camp themed room redo.
Last week I shared the plans for their space.
This week was all about getting the window trim and closet doors painted in Miss Mustard Seed’s Boxwood Milk Paint.
(Coming soon: More on the process and some milk paint tips I’ve learned along the way.)
So far both windows and both closet doors have been painted with two coats of paint.  I had one pouch of paint and it is G-O-N-E gone.  I’d really like to do a third coat so I may have to order another pouch.
Here’s a peek!
Excuse the color variation.  Some of the paint was still wet when I took pictures.  Hopefully it will dry evenly or I’ll definitely need that third coat.
It’s amazing how color changes the mood in a space!  It’s already feeling so much cozier and campier.

Now go check out everyone else’s progress and don’t forget to stop back here next Thursday for another update on the boys’ room.

Thanks Christine! Green is my son's (3-yr-old) favorite color. He requested green and I already had this in mind! Works for both of us.

This has been my largest scale project with milk paint and I now have some new tips that I think will help the beginning milk painter be satisfied with the experience. It can be a bit tricky and I've had issues with clumps and pigment settling which causes a drastic color change when you get to the bottom of your paint cup. I finally figured out what I wish I had known from the start! I'll be sharing soon!
