Boys’ Camp Bedroom Reveal: One Room Challenge, Week 6

November 6, 2014 ·

Six weeks have flown by and the boys’ bedroom is DONE!  The One Room Challenge at Calling it Home motivated me to make progress weekly and I’m so glad to have a finished room in the new (old) house.  I may not have gotten around to every planned project AND I may have added in a few along the way but we made it!

If you need a refresher of the past six weeks you can find them here:

Week 1: The Plan  |  Week 2: Boxwood Milk Paint Doors and Trim
Week 3: Found & Purchased Design Elements  |  Week 4: Progress
Week 5: Crunch Time
Without further ado here is the boys’ complete camp bedroom.
Warning: Heaps of pictures ahead.

Three-year-old stowaway on the loose!  The door was meant to be closed but he kept kicking it open while I was taking pictures!

Check out the woodland stenciled side panels on this dresser!!
I’ll share sources later but if you have any specific questions feel free to leave them in the comments.
Thanks for dropping by!
Now you should really head over to the reveals of the other One Room Challengers.  Lots of eye candy to be had!

    Thanks Tara!
I was trying to be quick about photographing since the boys were not going for the photo shoot. I know some of the images are a tad fuzzy which bothers me but I guess probably isn't noticeable to everyone else.

Thanks Sharon! I've been collecting the owls since our 3-year-old was a baby. He had an owl nursery. Quite a bit of the accessories came from our grandparents. Makes them extra special!

    November 8, 2014 at 3:23 pm

Thanks! My husband's grandfather owned a clock shop before he passed. They were clocks he put together!

    November 8, 2014 at 3:26 pm

Thank you Tracy! The map is from Schoolhouse Electric. I saw it and knew it was the perfect colors for the room. PLUS it's huge! We hot glued it to some stained trims boards and added some braided jute to hang it. I love how it came out!

Thanks Cassie! The chair works perfectly!! Thanks for selling it to me. 🙂

Thanks Wendy. We bought the toadstool from a local barn sale. I loved the texture of it and of course that it was made to look like a mushroom! Too cute!

    November 8, 2014 at 3:35 pm

Thanks Melissa! So far my son (3 years) has been good about leaving the decor items alone. I want to stick a shelf above the crib to move some of them up though so hopefully nothing will get broken and then they can fill up the Urban Outfitters shelving unit with their own toys, animals, or books.

  24. Dear Emmeline says

    November 8, 2014 at 3:38 pm

Thanks Sarah! I was worried that in decorating to my liking it would lose the kid's room feeling. I tried to keep it fun and practical for my little guys. The room is a decent size so it's nice that they have the whole carpeted area (8'x10') to play on!

  25. Dear Emmeline says

    November 8, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Thank you Rebecca! A lot of the vintage decor came from our grandparents!

    November 8, 2014 at 6:11 pm

Thank you Kris! Believe it or not we almost yardsaled those crates the week before. My mom said, "don't you think you could make something with those" and I was like "yes, yes I can"! A few days later we had some new bookshelves!

  27. Dear Emmeline says

    November 8, 2014 at 6:19 pm

Thank you Eddie! We found some of the art on Etsy or at places like Sweet Clover. The clocks were handed down to us and the map was from Schoolhouse Electric.

🙂 Thank you! We found the hedgie duvet with little green plaid pillowcase at Ikea!! Love them. So cute.

    November 8, 2014 at 6:33 pm

Thanks! I am so glad to have a room finished and couldn't be happier with the results. Our 3-year-old loves nature and animals so I hope he loves their room. I'll have to let him take some of his leaf collection or one of the ten baggies of acorns he's collected to make something for the room!

I LOVE that green door. Nice touch. Also adore the bookshelves things (with rope) and the yellow and brown dresser. It's all goes together so great!

    November 12, 2014 at 6:22 pm

🙂 Thank you Kristen. Both of our boys (3 years & 6 months) will actually be in this room! The oldest is a nature lover so we wanted to give them a little place with a nod to outdoor exploring. We didn't want a space that was too nursery or completely irrelevant for 2 little (or even a bit older) boys. We're hoping they can grow in this room and I guess we can change it up when they get old enough to make their own decorating decisions!

  37. Dear Emmeline says

    November 12, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Thank you Shelia! Our 3 year old loves green. He wanted a green room and I'm thrilled with the green trim/doors!

    November 12, 2014 at 6:25 pm

That means so much Vanessa! Our 3 year old loves his "green room". The 6 month old doesn't have a clue yet but hopefully as he gets older he will love it!

Love this cabin/camp room. It looks so original and the painted clock…brilliant. You did a wonderful job. fun room.

  41. Dear Emmeline says

    November 13, 2014 at 6:19 pm

Thanks Linda! I knew I wanted to paint the clock but I had to get my husband's permission since they were from his grandfather. It was missing some pieces and their originally was a stag head that was missing an ear and antler. I convinced him it would look better and you wouldn't notice the missing pieces if it was painted! So glad he agreed!

Also, you have to tell me your source for the cuckoo clocks. They have been on my wish list for my daughters room and I haven't found any that are reasonable.

  53. Dear Emmeline says

    November 24, 2014 at 4:27 pm

Thanks for your sweet sweet comments! The cuckoo clocks were from my husband's grandfather. He owned a clock shop and these were 2 that he made. We own their house and shop building now and all of the remaining clocks were sold at auction and to a local buyer BUT if I come across any more when we start gutting the shop I'll let you know.
