Dining Room Reveal : One Room Challenge

May 9, 2015 ·

The One Room Challenge Spring 2015 edition has come to a close!

We officially finished the room on deadline day (Thursday) but staging, taking, and editing photos took some time so the big reveal is happening a few days late.  Big changes take time and we needed every single minute of the six weeks to get the room done!

If you missed the rest of our ORC posts you can find them here:

Week 1   |   Week 2   |   Week 3   |   Week 4   |   Week 5

Let’s take a peek at some of the before pictures again.  Pretty much just furniture shoved in a room.  Besides cleaning up we hadn’t worked on the space at all since we moved in last August.

And, here it is now!

If you have a good eye, you’ll see the bench is still missing.  We started stripping the paint off to give it a lighter weathered look but it’s still a work in progress.  When it’s finished it will go back where it was along the wallpapered wall.  I also have some art to hang on the walls but I couldn’t find my plate hangers AND I just couldn’t put any holes in the wallpaper just yet.

A beautiful space that I can imagine many long, lingering meals to take place in. I was drawn in by the plate racks that you built, but stayed to devour all of the details. Lovely.

What an amazing transformation! A true job well done. I adore the color palette you selected. It feels fresh and fun. The six weeks went by so fast. I completed our entry, living and dining areas in a new to us 30 year old house. So, cheers to us! Have a wonderful week.

Thanks Erin! I am so happy with how they came out. I gave my husband the plan and he built them. Hard to build with a one year old in tow. 😉 But I did spend several days painting them!

🙂 Thanks! The wall sconce was original to the house. I wasn't in love with it but it's hardwired with a switch on the light. I couldn't find anything to replace it so in came the spray paint! LOVE the pale green color. I want to use it everywhere!

I love what you did to your dining room. White and mint, what a great combination. I have similar furniture (buffet and china cabinet) and have imagined it painted. It looks wonderful. I am sure you will enjoy spending time in your dining room.

Beautiful, probably too white for my house and the cats would adore the open shelves, even as skinny as they are. I've always wanted a window seat since I saw one at my uncle's place as a child. I also love the idea of hidden storage.

Your dining room is so lovely…………love the built ins around the window, they looks wonderful,
and love the light mint you painted the furniture. Interesting contrast with the brown….but it looks
great. Wallpaper is also very beautiful and subtle……….Very fresh appealing room.
You should be proud of yourself…………..good job!!
    Blessings, Nellie

    I love everything about this room! My ding room is next(ish) on the list, and I have a trestle table similar to yours that I want to replace with a plank top. If I could just cut and paste your room into my house that would be great! Glad to connect through the One Room Challenge! ~Crystal {pennyloveprojects.com}

Beautiful work. I enjoyed seeing the before to after process.

  43. Dear Emmeline says

    July 13, 2015 at 1:59 pm

    Hi Anne,
We put in central air and heat so the baseboards are actually disconnected but still hanging on the wall. Pulling them out means more patching projects which hasn't made it to the top of the to-do list. We did have to re-route an air vent though. Hubby extended the ductwork from the floor up to the front of the bench.
