Country Chic Liquorice Dresser with Pocket Watch Pulls

Sleek.

That’s the word that comes to mind for my newest furniture project.

I’ve shared this dresser before. I refinished it several years ago for my daughter’s room at our old house.

Her silhouette dresser is still one of the most popular makeovers on Petal + Ply. I loved the sweet custom silhouette of my daughter but the fabric elements weren’t a match for her curious fingers. The damaged details as well as some broken woodwork put it on the top of my to-do list.

If you’ve never heard of it The Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest™ is a monthly contest where contestants create a themed furniture project with a little help from the monthly product sponsor. The projects are judged and the sponsor provides a prize package to the winner.

The May theme is Bling Bling and this month’s sponsor is Country Chic Paint. Country Chic Paint is an eco-friendly furniture paint. It requires very little to no prepwork. For this project I chose to use Country Chic Paint in Liquorice and Country Chic Metallic Cream in Belt Buckle.

This paint covered amazingly well! Seriously. Check out the image below. This is just one coat over the existing white paint.

The paint covered the new wood detail for the base (the old one was cracked in half) just as well.

I used a second coat of paint to make sure there was complete coverage and then sealed the paint with wipe-on polyurethane.

Next up was the hardware. I kept the original pulls for the bottom two drawers and added two new knobs to the top drawers.

The existing hardware had lost much of it’s original finish and was quite lackluster. I decided to try out Country Chic’s Metallic Cream on them.

After brushing on three coats I had the look I was going for.

A quick light brush of Metallic Cream on the new knobs kept all the hardware cohesive.

The new glam hardware adds the perfect amount of feminine glitz to play off the new rich color.

Very pretty!!! The best part about your classic dresser is that you get to make it over to suit your needs. Every time, it’s perfect! Great job.

Thank you Robin! Yes, now that our daughter has a new room and built-in dressers she no longer needed this one. Perfect time to fix it up again. 🙂

Thanks so much Maria! I believe the floors were done by my husband’s grandfather when they added on this room in the 70’s. When we bought the house my husband and several family members refinished them. 🙂
