Garage Creative Studio & Pop-Up Shop Reveal | One Room Challenge™

May 9, 2018 ·

Today’s the day!!

Six weeks of hard work is in-the-books and my Garage Creative Studio is complete!

We’ve been sharing our garage renovation project weekly as part of the One Room Challenge™. The ORC is a biannual challenge where bloggers and designers around the web complete a room redo over the span of 6 weeks. Every Wednesday, 20 featured designers share the progress they’ve made in their rooms, and each Thursday, Linda of Calling It Home (the originator of the ORC), hosts a linkup where anyone from around the web can share their own ORC projects.

If you are jumping in for the first time, you can go back and catch up on on our whole Garage Creative Studio series here;

Week 1: The Before & Inspiration

Week 2: The Design Plan

Week 3: Nature’s Reflection Painted Door & Other Progress Sneak Peaks

Week 4: Studio Shelving

Week 5: DIY Large Scale Wall Art From Cotton Shower Curtain

And now onto the good stuff! Loads and loads of images of our completed space.

Week 6: THE REVEAL

Removable wall hung work stations allow plenty of space for my own creating as well as hosting an occasional creative class. When I need or want the space to load up furniture for a pop-up shop I can simply remove the desk panels.

I finally have a space to use and display my collection on vintage artists smocks. Aren’t the floral fabrics so pretty?!

One the left side of the room we decided to forgo our original plan for shelving. We decided it might feel a little bit like a tunnel with wall to wall shelving on the length of both (the left and right) walls. Instead we hung 3 ceramic wall planters to use for easy accessible storage. The space above is open for hanging artwork.

We purchased the white metal display stand at a hardware store going-out-of-business sale. It’s perfect for holding and displaying my extensive collection of patterned paper napkins. See how I used them for this desk and dresser redo.

The little birdie teaspoon rest was a gift and I immediately knew I wanted to use it as a paintbrush rest. A colorful rag rug I picked up at Walmart complements it perfectly.

No studio can be complete without a beverage bar!

To add another pop of color to the space I painted the coffee table (actually and end table) in lilac.

The vintage velvet loveseat I scored at Goodwill also got an update. I’m thrilled with how the boho fringe gives the sofa a whole new vibe!

We also found this set of graduated metal stands at Goodwill. My husband made little wood tops for them and gave them a beautiful glossy sheen with Shellac.

On the right side of the room are our long display shelves. I plan to use them for vase/vessel storage as well as for displaying breakables during the occasional weekend pop-up shop.

I figured I can also use the vessels for added art supply storage.

On a whim I decided to use some glass flower frogs to store my collection of paintbrushes. So handy and creates some pretty cool “bouquets”.

Collapsible wood shelving will be used to store craft supplies but can also be emptied and used to display merchandise.

Wall-to-wall peg rail trim on the front entry wall provides a space to hang aprons.

A DIY wall sconce provides a bit of extra lighting and a soft glow in the evening.

Ahh! I can not believe the ORC is over & that this space is really mine!

I have dreamed of a dedicated space for all of my creative endeavors and I am so excited to put this space to use.

Now, be sure to run over on the One Room Challenge™ blog to check out all of the other ORC room reveals. I guarantee they will not disappoint!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.

I personally owe a huge thank you to my husband who worked tirelessly beside me on this renovation. He’s the best!

We also owe a big thank you to our sponsor, Select Surfaces, for providing the flooring for our space.

Time to get creative!

Thanks Tee! This room does have pretty great natural lighting. You would never have known it when it was a packed full and dirty garage. With the white paint it’s so much brighter than I ever expected it could be!

Fantastic Jessica, you really did an incredible job and I am so envious. How I would love to be able to go out to our shed to do my crafting, leave mess outside. We don’t have a garage.
There are so many wonderful features you included, too many to enumerate and it’s all beautiful. You are certainly to be commended.Enjoy.
